Abnormal Weather Led To A 50% Cut In Honey Production, 30% Rise In Price

July 16, 2010: 10:02 PM EST

Abnormal weather is being blamed for a fall in honey production in Beijing of  50% compared with last year. The cut in honey supply has also led to a surge in the purchasing price in the country, with roughly an 80% price increase for rape flower honey, and an 100% increase for locust flower honey. Most supermarkets have not yet received price adjustment notices,  but honey manufacturers have estimated the price inflation will be around 30-40%.
